What a session at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) hosted at Putra-PDK (Pusat Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti).
We came to talk about helping students and staff better understand their strengths and the support they need for their challenges. We stayed (way past time) because the conversation got seriously technical in the best way.
The academicians went deep on:
• What a spiky profile really means
• How ratings translate into meaningful categories
• Validity and reliability of assessments
• Responsible interpretation in real-world settings
No surface talk. Just thoughtful challenge, debate, and shared intent to do this properly.
Huge thanks to both Dr. Harnisha Haidhir and Dr. Siti Noraini Asmuri for the warm welcome and for showing us the centre’s sensory room, where children aged 4–6 learn to understand and navigate sensory experiences. That’s early intervention done right: not “fixing” children, but preparing them to understand their world.
When research, practice, and honest questions meet, inclusion stops being a buzzword and starts becoming a system.
